Gathering Food for Thought

13 09 2013

In the book of Ruth, we see the principle of leaving the outer edges of the field unharvested. The intent was that those who were without food could come gather what they needed for food.

To a certain extent, that’s what we’re doing here. We “gathered” the bulk of the harvest – it was our field. You’ve watched the story grow, and develop, and saw what we gleaned from our experience. Now it’s your turn to collect what is needed for your own sustenance. In a way, I’m collecting what we left and piling it up so you don’t have to work hard for your meal.

Maybe doing so isn’t Scriptural…I don’t know. I can say that thus far this has been a very useful exercise for me, and I’ve learned many things that I missed in the heat of the battle. Thanks for your kind patience while I sift through everything and sort it out! 🙂

(For any latecomers, this all began with this post: You Need to Read This)

Part 7 – Not Over Yet!:

If it’s funny – laugh! Don’t miss out on the humor that comes up. Laughter relieves the tension and helps you remember that God is in control.

Nausea is not uncommon. Clean up the mess and continue. Don’t let the enemy distract you.

Freaky sounds, threatening gestures, etc. are not a reason to fear the enemy. The Lord is on your side, and He is always victorious! Take control in the name of Jesus and by the power of His shed blood. State your position as a blood-bought child of God. Stand firm and do not waver. Jesus gave us authority over all the power of the evil one. Period. No debate. No doubt. Fact.

We also overcome by the word of our testimony. If you feel led, share pieces of your testimony with the one being delivered.

Listen to the Lord. Ask Him for guidance, discernment, knowledge, wisdom. Expect Him to help. James 1 tells us that if we doubt when we ask we can expect to receive nothing. This is not a good time to cut off your communication with the only One who can lead you!

Part 8 – Our Tenacious Enemy:

Demonic involvement can cause false medical reports – as in Brandon’s brain scan. I don’t know if you caught this, but when the MRI and CT scans were done here, they showed major brain damage…the entire frontal lobe of his brain was supposedly missing. When another scan was done in PA, the findings were that of a normal brain…COMPLETELY INTACT!

Not all mental illness is demonic – but not all mental illness is organic, either. When the mind is under stress, the body’s chemical levels can become imbalanced. One well-meaning counselor advised us to have Brandon checked into a mental hospital where they would observe him for 90 days and medicate him. Had we followed this advice, Brandon would still be dealing with a half a brain. The demons would have maintained control of his mind – and the doctors would have kept him in a state of medicated “manageability.” No thanks!

Pray, pray, pray…and have intercessors praying as well – as many as the Lord calls to the task. Have them come and pray over your home, and every member of the family in it. This is no time for embarrassment or pride. If Brandon had accidentally fallen into a well, we wouldn’t keep it to ourselves and hope to get him out in once piece. We’d call everyone we could and get help, and not struggle with shame of any sort.

Keep tabs on anyone you don’t know if they are called in. As we discovered, “anyone” includes medical professionals – even doctors. What Brandon’s doctor did by bringing in the “chanter” was unethical. Kicking us out of his room was also unethical. There were many things he did that were unethical! Discernment is crucial.

Remember all that is going on is for God’s glory…and for no one else’s. Anyone who seems to be trying to make a name for themselves should be talked to and, if necessary, dismissed.

Part 9 – What On Earth Is Going On?:

“Lord, I believe; help my unbelief.” This needs to be a frequent prayer! Keep your eyes on Jesus, remind yourself often that He wants this resolved far more than you do.

Expect to be amazed by the power of the Lord! Expect to be wowed by the inexplicable. Expect victory. It will surely come!

The fun part: expect to have to explain all this to other family members and friends!

–>Hello to all of Brandon & Beth’s friends who have been reading this story to find out what happened. I am the “mother-in-law.” If anyone is going to complain and rag about their good-for-nothing son-in-law, it’s going to the mom whose daughter is married to the “bum.” That is my job, right? I’m here to proclaim publicly that I am nuts about Brandon and astonished at the work Jesus Christ has done in him thus far! I’m as fond of Brandon as if he were my own son! <–

Tell me that’s not God!

Be prepared to give an explanation for the hope that you have in Jesus. People are desperate to know that such hope really exists in the real world!

Part 10 – New Life – Same Old Enemy:

Just because the demons have lost their legal right to attach themselves to a person – believer or not – doesn’t mean they hang their heads and slink off, never to be seen again. They will pull every trick they have and try in countless ways to regain their old “haunting grounds.”

For some deliverance is quick, for others it’s a process. Transformation takes place by the renewing of our minds. That takes time, especially if there’s been a lot of abuse. You can read the process through which the Lord led me here: God Blew Up My Box. Be patient, use your God Box, come alongside them as you are led, let them go when your part in the process is done. God is faithful and will complete the work He’s begun (Philippians 1:6).

So there you have it; this is my limited knowledge of demonization. I am no professional and I’m not anxious to engage in a battle of this sort again!

On the other hand, it was an honor to be invited to participate in a rescue mission of this sort.

If you’ve had experiences like this, feel free to share. Demonic activity seems to be ramping up. They’re getting more bold and daring by the day. Let’s equip one another so we can stand fast when the time comes.

In His Majesty’s service,

You’re welcome. We need to tell others about the more “unusual” bits of our journey. When we discover that others had some of the same experiences, our doubts are erased and our faith in God increases.

Yes, we know from 1 John 4:3 that “..every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.”

But we also have the reassurance in verse 4 that “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.”

Hallelujah indeed! Claim the victory and do not back down from this war because if He is for you, who can be against you! (Rom 8:31)

Thank you so much for sharing your testimony with us, and organizing your experiences with us, for our benefit. I believe the Lord led me to read your post, to remind me to arm myself with the Word. There is a great spiritual battle happening right now, and we all need to be aware of who we belong to. Many hearts and souls are being converted.

And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

Praise Jesus!!!

Spiritual warfare of this nature is a touchy subject. Many write you off as a quack if you “go there.” Quack or not, this story was real – and the Lord asked me to tell it.

Personally, I’ll be happy to get back to things less controversial next week!

Love that Scripture. It’s written on my front door. 🙂

Thanks for taking the time to read and then comment, sweet sister.
